Resident’s voice I was shy by nature, and remained so even after completing high school, so I decided to move into the dormitory because I wanted to be able to speak confidently in front of others. At WISH, I got many opportunities to make friends, such as the events held on the day I moved in, and it was reassuring that I could find friends to go to the entrance ceremony and other school events for new students with. Now, I am used to dormitory life, and I have been able to cultivate communication skills as well as the ability to respect diversity through the SI programs and dormitory events.(M.K.) In March 2014, Waseda International Student House (WISH) opened at Waseda University Nakano International Community Plaza, which has been developed as a new base for training global leaders. Students with varied backgrounds and diverse values who have gathered from all over Japan and the world live and learn together at WISH. In this environment, they can foster mutual understanding and cultivate communication and other skills needed for playing an active role in the global community, as well as for forming a wide range of interpersonal relationships. WISH has implemented a Social Intelligence (SI) program, which aims to improve abilities that will be essential in the future to enable students to meet the needs of society. This program is compulsory for all residents. WISH is a place where you can grow through interactions with other residents who have diverse backgrounds and values. So why don’t you take the first step in the university life you’ve been longing for at WISH?8Live and interact with residents who have gathered at Waseda from all corners of the world, as you lay the foundation for your future.Global Communication
